Historical significance:
Dated 1897 and very rare, this is one of the very first photographical records of a game of basketball. The photo features a P on a jersey and is likely designtaing Penn or Princeton as both college teams were active at that time.
The game was invented by the Canadian Dr. James Naismith in 1891 in Massachusetts USA. 1897 was the year of the first offical inter college games featuring Yale & Penn.
