Other notable history:
Sir Sydney Herbert Evershed (13 January 1861 – 7 March 1937) was an English brewer and cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire from 1880 to 1901 and was a long-serving club captain from 1891 to 1898. Sydney Evershed was also the father of Edward who went on to found the same law firm that still exists globally today; giving this card more historical significance.

“EDUCATED at Clifton College, like most of his brothers, S. H. EVERSHED'S cricket career has reflected great credit on his early training. One of a brotherhood of Athletes, he was the most successful of them all as a Cricketer. One of the mainstays of the Derbyshire Eieven for some years as a batsman, and additionally in later years as Captain. Of the school of hitters he was a brilliant exponent. Full of pluck and nerve he starts to score at once, and when in the mood is one of the most punishing batsmen. A hard hitter all round the wicket, he takes a lot of moving when once set. A keen sportsman, he is a thorough worker on the field as well as at the wickets. Moreover he plays the game in every sense.“ ( From FAMOUS CRICKETERS AND CRICKET GROUNDS 1895 )
