Featuring two of soccer / football’s early greats in W CLARKE & W FOULKE. A rare piece of football history.

Willie or Billy Clarke footballer and pioneer. Willie Clarke was a Scottish professional footballer who was the first Black professional footballer to score in the English Football League, while playing for Aston Villa in December 1901. He was also the second Black player to represent Scotland, after Andrew Watson, by playing for the Scotland juniors side in 1897.

William “Fatty” Fouke one of the most well known goalkeepers of the early 1900s. A larger than life character. He also played four first-class matches for Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the 1900 seasonbut is remembered primarily as a goalkeeper for Sheffield United although he later played for Chelsea and Bradford City.

A rare original print issued as a supplement to the Sunday Chronicle in 1906-07.
